Would you like to know the SECRET to everything - joy, health, money, relationships, love, happiness.. everything you have ever wanted? It is the SECRET which has travelled through centuries to reach you.

I first read about it from Sifu’s dailynuggets. Sifu put up a link to watch it free online. It is frustrating to view it online with my narrowband Streamyx. It has completely changed my mindset, my thinking and could change my life forever.. It conveys a simple yet powerful message that you’ve got to take charge of your thoughts, your mind to get what you want.

If you want to know what is this SECRET all about, if you want to achieve everything you want beyond your wildest dream, find out you can do it by watching this 102 minutes movie free online. Go fast, fast because it is free for a limited period of time only.

Getting personal with Personal Money

October 10, 2006

Errr.. I am no financial planning expertise but I do know that I have to plan for my golden years (just in case hubby ditches me for a much younger bimbo, ahem) and the kids’ education. So.. I have been growing my wealth the smart way by investing in unit trusts funds using both my Employees Provident Funds (KWSP) and cash.

Earlier, I wrote about the best practices of unit trusts in this blog, and the editor of Personal Money Magazine, the EDGE Magazine on Managing Your Finances, contacted me for my story.

Check out the October issue of Personal Money Magazine. There is an extensive write-up on investing your EPF monies. This humble blogger’s short story is featured on Pg. 43. Errr..I wouldn’t want to put up my "sexy" pix and story here so as not to infringe the copy right of the magazine. Go to the nearest newstand, grab the October issue for more tips on managing your finances.. or just to peep at this humble blogger’s physical outlook.. hahaha.. don’t vomit blood ya..

Thank you editor Tan Su-Yin for the opportunity to guest star in Personal Money Magazine.

A big cheers to writer Elaine Boey for the great write-up, and not forgetting,

Photographer Kenny Yap for the superb pix…

(as if I just won an Oscar award …emoticon)

Surname TAN? Fancy car plate number TAN 1

September 25, 2006

Hmm.. too late lah, if you wanna bid for TAN 1 as your new car registration number, you got to be prepared to fork out more than RM80,000!! I can see that it is Trengganu JPJ’s turn to laugh their way to the bank after the JJJ craze in Johor..

My surname may be TAN, but I guess I’ll save the RM80,000 to buy another car and probably just fork out RM200 for YEKNEE 1…who wants YEKNEE 1 other than me anyway.. hmmmm..

Political unrest in Thailand (updates)

September 20, 2006

Updated : 21st Sept 2006

Head office issues relaxation on travel restriction to Thailand today. Schools and businesses has resumed today and our sister companies had resumed their business operation late yesterday evening. Streets in Bangkok and other cities have return to normalcy following the formation of the interim government to draft a new constitution which will lead to a fresh election in 2007.

The Council for Democratic Reform (CDR) chaired by General Sonthi was formed following yesterday peaceful coup d’etat. The CDR was reportedly to have the support of King Bhumibol. Read this.

20th Sept 2006

Yet another disturbing turn of event in Thailand. The military coup in Thailand has affected business transaction. All the 21 of our sister companies in Thailand are unusually closed today due to uncertainties. Head office immediately issued an advisory travelling, prohibiting all business travelling to Thailand until further notice.

Let’s hope that peace be maintained and our counterparts in Thailand do not have to resolve to leave the country.

49 or 43

September 16, 2006

East Malaysian, for sure will remember this auspicious date.. 16th September 1963.

Let’s revisit history.

Everyone knows 31st August 1957 is when Malaya gained Independence from the British colonialism, aka our Hari Merdeka.

And when Singapore (who gained "Independence" from Malaysia in 1965), Sabah and Sarawak gained Independence to join the then Federation of Malaya, Malaysia was formed, the date was 16th September 1963.

So..if my matematics is correct and my brain cells are still intact, Malaysia is 43 today, not 49!

Happy 43rd Birthday, Malaysia!

Amazing Body Adventure

September 11, 2006

We did not know about such exhibition until we received a complimentary ticket from Big J’s Montessouri Kindy to the Amazing Body Adventure exhibition in the MIECC, the Mines.

The spectacular exhibition (which ends in KL yesterday and to be showcased in JB in Oct) carries the objective of educating children about human body in a fun-filled but realistic environment. Visitors get a realistic experience by exploring the internal part of the replica giant human body, feeling and seeing the human structure.

At a glance, the theme hall features:

Mouth, which covers teeth, tongue, throat..

Entering the mouth..

"This is the correct brush to your beautiful teeth.."

Whoopie.. "food" sliding down the oesophagus..

"How many lungs does human have?"

TWO!!

"This will happen to your lungs if you SMOKE!!"

"This is your liver which detoxifies any "toxic" from your body.."

"and Stomach to digest your food."

"Pip pop, pip pop.. our heart beat and pumps our blood to our lungs and the rest of our body"

Visual Educational Hall features:

"How do you protect your eyes? Read in a bright light, sit far when you are watching TV.." I like the way they instill positive words, rather than the don’t, don’t, don’t!!

"Ears do not only provide hearing function, but also balancing your body.."

"Human’s largest organ is SKIN.."

"How many bones does human has?"

206!!

"And we have 2 bean-shaped kidneys, to help process waste and extra water..and filter them out of our body…"

And a very witty way to show our excessive fluid is discharged from our body through our ureters…

And a made simple sex education for children on how babies are made. At that moment, my battery went flat and managed just to capture this..

l must say that this exhibition educate and benefit the parents more than the children. I nearly fainted when a parent answered a question posted by the exhibitor guide that adults have 60 teeth!!

I am very impressed with each and every exhibitor guide, fluent English and well versed with what they are presenting.

A short TV cartoon "documentary" covers some of the organs explanation.

Explanation was done in a very interactive way even my short attention span 3-year-old toddler listened attentively from one journey to another as we strolled down from the mouth until the buttock.

We paid RM69 for the 4 of us (RM25 for 1 adult, RM44 for Big & Little J, 1 complimentary ticket). The kids had a great time and coming out from the exhibition knowing that human has a slightly smaller left lung to leave some space for our heart, 4 chambers in our heart, 206 bones, intestines is 6-7 meter long, etc.

I heard parents lamenting about not worth the money, nothing to see one.. etc, etc. Although we can easily find all this information on books, encyclopedias, internet etc, but to feel and getting the kids to get interested is another thing.

I have been trying to get Big J to read his Human Body Disney Encyclopedia but he has always preferred the dinosours, animals, cars, aeroplane versions.

But once we reached home, Big J headed straight for his Encyclopedia on Human Body and this book has since become his new mate. Isn’t RM69 worth spent on?

Who is correct??

September 7, 2006

Remember Siti Vs. Mawi, TV3 vs. TV1 ratings war on 28th August 2006? Read this. It is rather confusing to read different story from different newspaper.

Bernama published on its website on 29th August 2006 says — > Siti : 4.3 million viewers and Mawi : 1.6 million viewers.

Thestar published on its tabloid on 30th August 2006 says –> Siti : 6.3 million viewers, Mawi : 4.7 millions viewers.

MalayMail published on 5th Sept 2006 quoted Information Minister Datuk Zainuddin Maidin who announced that official ratings figures had yet to be obtained.

Errr… who is correct?

The ugly “kiasu”

September 1, 2006

Kiasu literally means "scared to lose" in the Hokkien dialect. It is a trait peculiar to Malaysian and is on the rise in Malaysia. Take a look at this.

Rush for passport in Penang via theStar on August 29, 2006.

No increase in passport fees, says department via theStar on August 30, 2006 and as if the assurance from Immigration Department is not convincing enough.

This is what happened, No more application till Sept 7 via theStar on August 31, 2006.

I just can’t believe it. Just because of a rumour mongering about the possibility of Malaysian passport fee increase from RM300 to RM500 for a 32-page and from RM600 to RM1,000 for a 62-page, thousands have thronged the Immigration Dept to "beat" the deadline of the purported increased fee.

Oh yes, I notice that this happened only at the northern States (Kedah, Penang and Perak). I wonder why, eh?

Toll rate hike dismissed?

August 31, 2006

Works Ministry will decide whether to allow the 5 concessionaires to increase the toll rate scheduled in 2007. Read theStar published on August 30, 2006.

I am just wondering whether this is good news or what?

Countdown to the golden jubilee of our Independence

We have come a long way. 49 years of Independence. A year from today, we will be celebrating the golden jubilee of Hari Merdeka.

May we continue to have peace, harmony, unity, and prosperity.

Let’s continue to uphold our pride and principles of being a Malaysian, rejoice wholeheartedly, how lucky we are to be a MALAYSIAN.

A merdeka thought which came in my email from Kalai:

31st August 2006 is the 49th year of this country’s independence from British colonialism and the day of joyful shouts of “Merdeka, Merdeka, Merdeka!” Those days my grandmother and father use to talk about the condition of the life before and after we gain the independence. I felt the patriotism in it, but now it is simply known as another public holiday for us to go for shopping or vacation. As for me it is the most memorable epoxy in the history of our country.

And let’s hold hand and count down to the golden jubilee of our Independence. May everyday be as special as our Independence Day.

Happy Merdeka Day!

Crime Alert Via SMS

August 30, 2006

Yesterday, I received the following SMS from an ex-colleague who is a resident of USJ..

The message received on 29.08.2006 at 04:29pm as follows:

-Orginal Message-

Urgent! If you c car WFExxxx (I delete car registration number) wira aeroback green col pls cal2d police!A18yrs chi.gal jst kidnapped by5malays at parade rooftop carpark

My first reaction was, Is this authentic? Who can verify? Parade? Does that mean Subang Parade or Klang Parade? I was made to understand that recently USJ crime watch has activated the so-called SMS crime alert whereby residents have to subscribe to get the alert and residents are not supposed to forward the SMS. Is this SMS originated from the USJ crime alert team? I was wondering. (I do not subscribe the alert because I am not a resident of USJ/SJ).

At a glance, the quick spreading of this news via SMS is a great way to fight crimes, that is if the kidnapped girl’s life is endangered. However, what if the SMS is a crank alert, the life of the driver of the said vehicle will be endangered instead. As such, I did not forward this SMS to anybody, having no one to verify for me.

Today, I found out that the the SMS was indeed authentic and it was reported in theStar. However, as reported in the news, the abduction actually happened on Monday (28.8.2006), and the girl was released unharmed on the same day. The SMS came in a day late and the "parade" was actually Ipoh Parade. The State CID chief verified that. However, there was no verification on the vehicle registration number.

What amazed me was the way the news spread like wild fire, and I must laud the police (from almost all the states in the west coast) for not taking any chance and swing full force into action to the "rescue".

This "incident" is an eye opener to me and I shouldn’t take this kind of alert for granted. In future, if I receive such alert via SMS or email or any other media, I would just forward it to Rakan Cop Hotline at 32728.
