Judy, I was told that although money is good, cost of living is high too. They are now back in Sibu, a small town in Sarawak, doing their housemanship in gov't hospitals, probably enjoying life now as a king and queen in their own way...

Yeknee, I don't know where your friends in London are getting their figures for au pairs. Though most au pairs are trained but their pay is probably 30% - 40% of a doctor's pay. Au pairs are very reliable as they have to go through Criminal Records Bureau checks. Your friends being specialists in a private hospital should be very, very well paid to be able to afford 2 au pairs, send their children to private schools and live very comfortably. It is a shame it didn't work out for them because if you ask me, education here is excellent. Perhaps they have made their money and with what they take back to Malaysia (£x6.8), they probably will live a lifestyle of a king and queen. :)

Chanel, it's quite unfortunate that there are lots of hardworking people but do not work smart to leverage their time.
