Lantern Cheers

October 6, 2006

Today, the 15th day of the eighth lunar month of the Chinese calendar is the Mid Autumn Festival or commonly known as Moon Cake Festival or more popularly known locally as Lantern Festival. Technologies nowadays are so advanced that one may do away with the traditional paper lantern with burning candle.

There are various types and design of battery-operated lanterns with melody and twinkling lights which are so much safer for younger children. Well, that leaves me wondering whether someone is inventing a battery-operated firecrackers for the coming Chinese New Year celebrations in view of the numerous home accidents due to home-made firecrackers! Wait a minute, I should say for the coming DeepaRaya cheers. Hmmm…

Have a cheerful and safe "Zhong Chiu Jie"…
