49 or 43
East Malaysian, for sure will remember this auspicious date.. 16th September 1963.
Let’s revisit history.
Everyone knows 31st August 1957 is when Malaya gained Independence from the British colonialism, aka our Hari Merdeka.
And when Singapore (who gained "Independence" from Malaysia in 1965), Sabah and Sarawak gained Independence to join the then Federation of Malaya, Malaysia was formed, the date was 16th September 1963.
So..if my matematics is correct and my brain cells are still intact, Malaysia is 43 today, not 49!
