It is important to ensure that your water heater is safe to use at all time and also to ensure the water flow rate is consistently good. Have you experienced the water pressure getting lower after using your instant for quite some time? Do you know what is the function of the ELCB checker? Based on a survey conducted recenty by Panasonic, a lot of consumers do not know how to maintain their water heater. Ensure you check the following consistently:

1. Inspection on built-in ELCB

a. Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker or ELCB in short, cuts off the power supply automatically when the water heater is overloaded or when leakage current exceeds recommended level. It is highly recommended to inspect it at least once a month to ensure yout ELCB is functioning well by pressing the test button of the ELCB checker. If the ELCB is normal, the ELCB reset lever will come down and you just need to push it up to reset it. If it does not come down, inform call the dealer / service center at which you bought your water heater and stop using immediately.

b. Shower head cleaning

Some residue from the water supply might trap in the shower head, thus lowering the water pressure. As such, it is highly recommended to clean your shower head plate’s holes once a week by using a soft brush. Make sure not to damage the holes of the shower plate during cleaning. The rubber packing shall be set on the shower head before fixing back the shower plate to the shower head to avoid any leaking of water. Do not remove other parts.

3. Filter unit cleaning

Clean the filter of the water filter unit or water control valve on your unit when you feel that the hot water are not drawn normal. It is however highly recommended to clean it at least once a week.

Do not attempt to inspect or repair the unit yourself if you notice any abnomalities such as water leakage, insufficient water flow, water temperature cannot be controlled. Call the service center or your dealer immediately.
